24 HOURS IN YOUR CAR – RAISE AWARENESS OF HOMELESSNESS

TARGET PARKING LOT - FRIDAY, AUGUST 15 & SATURDAY, AUGUST 16, 2014

Pen Centre is again hosting No Fixed Address- a 24 hour Live-In-Your-Car-A-Thon to raise awareness about poverty and homelessness in the Niagara Region. Like a marathon or a walk-a-thon, participants gather sponsorships from friends and family and take part in an event that gives them a taste of what it is like to have to live in their car. Over the course of 24 hours participants will experience just how little room a car has when you sleep in it, what a convenience store diet means and how difficult it is to find a restroom when you most need it. Participants will be stretched and challenged and will leave forever changed.

Visit www.NFANiagara.com for more information on registration or to become a volunteer.

11AM - SEARS COURT
Are you man enough to join us and strap on a pair of heels?
By joining other men and walking together through the Pen Centre you show women you want to work together in making the world a safer place for all mothers, sisters and daughters.
All proceeds from this fundraising walk will go towards Gillian’s Place, the only organization that provides a safe emergency shelter and specialized services for abused women and their children from Grimsby, Lincoln, Niagara-on-the-Lake, St. Catharines, Thorold and West Lincoln.
By participating in this unique event, you will be stating that violence against women and children is not just a women’s issue and that women and men must work together towards creating a violence free world.
If you have any questions or would like to register, please visit www.walkamileinhershoes.ca or call Joanne Doyley 905-684-4000 x235.
