Jesus called the disciples to follow him in his ministry as God the Father called all the prophets to deliver his message to the people in the Old Testament: ""As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. ""Come, follow me, Jesus said, and I will make you fishers of men"" At once they left their nets and followed him."" (Mark 1:16-17). The first calling of disciples is to follow Jesus and to know him personally as a result of this relationship; they then lead others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
