The third volume focuses on the early 1950s, universally considered one of Carl Barks's very peak periods. In"A Christmas for Shacktown," a rare 32-pager, the Ducks raise money to throw a Christmas party for the children of the slums (depicted with surprisingly Dickensian grittiness). Longer stories include "The Golden Helmet" and "The Gilded Man."
